The Catani lived in relative peace in the galaxy. They sat atop the proverbial ladder, their society and technology having progressed to such an extent they were considered the elite of all the races. However, after an autocratic regime ascended to the government of the Catani home world the delicate balance between the peaceful sect of society clashed with those who clamoured for war. The more extreme Catani united under a banner, wishing to prove their superiority in all manners through armed conflict. This aggressive nature sparked a bloody civil war, the more peace loving amongst the race being driven to the outskirts of the Catani cities and into the countryside. Open resistance was quickly quashed, prompting those Catani united against the regime to flee the planet.
This proved to be the beginnings of the bloody conflict that escalated to monstrous proportions. Deep within the heart of the Catani stronghold the cream of their fighting force undertook fierce and relentless training, honing them into the best trained fighting units. Using their blend of technological superiority and brute strength, the Catani soon began making huge advances with a series of bloody victories on the neighbouring systems. The Catani themselves are generally bigger than the other races, their stature looming over their enemies. Using a combination of this and their intelligence, the Catani overwhelmed the other races and more and more were enveloped into it as their endeavours increased.
The Bromheliad as well as the Halotta were amongst the first victims. The Catani war machine strengthened as they took over both the resources and technologies and weaponry of the planets they captured. They subsequently used the defeated races and forcefully enlisted them to act as a saturation force. After each initial invasion this force would be used in huge numbers to act as fodder before the advancing Catani forces began their deadly work. This was designed to inspire fear in their enemies and as the Catani war machine grew, it ensnared more and more races to fight against them. The war had reached its peak and prisoners were taken by the score, planets like Insidion being used to house the ones fortunate enough to get drafted into the fodder army.
The Catani who were overthrown by the this regime and survived the civil war fled and united with the other alien races. They were at first doubtful of the power of their enemy but soon they were shown the true menace of the Catani war machine. Thanks, largely to those Catani who were allied with them, this ragged alliance were able to inflict some losses but not enough to contain them. Thus, the civil war continued but on a much larger scale.
The planet of Cundach is the home world of the fierce Catani. The planet is similar to that of the rebuscar and the syanashi in appearance. The major factor that differentiates this planet from those others is the biological element that is poisonous to all races in the galaxy barring the Catani as they have a genetic immunity.
